To begin this tutorial, get the source files for the sample application from the Samples directory and set the environment variable to use the compiler. The source files are in an archive file in the following directory:
<install-dir>/Samples/<locale>/C++/tachyon.tar.gz
Getting the Source Files

Expand the source files to the tachyon directory to a working directory where you have read and write access by running the following command:
%tar -zxf tachyon.tar.gz

Change to the tachyon directory by running the following command:
%cd tachyon
Setting the Environment Variables
Before you can use the compiler, you must first set the environment variables by running the compiler environment script compilervars.sh or compilervars.csh with an argument that specifies the target architecture.
To set the environment variables:

Open a terminal session.

Run one of the scripts with the appropriate architecture argument. The following example uses compilervars.sh:
source <install-dir>/bin/compilervars.sh <arg>
where <install-dir> is the directory structure containing the /bin directory and <arg> is one of the following architecture arguments:
- ia32 Compiler and libraries for IA-32 architectures only
- intel64 Compilers and libraries for Intel® architectures only
