INQUIRE: DIRECT Specifier

The DIRECT specifier asks whether a file is connected for direct access. It takes the following form:

DIRECT = dir

dir

Is a scalar default character variable that is assigned one of the following values:

'YES'

If the file is connected for direct access

'NO'

If the file is not connected for direct access

'UNKNOWN'

If the file is not connected
